A music performance in Hebrew

Hanoch Levin (1943-1999), Israel’s most important and influential playwright, was first and foremost – a great poet.
He, who became famous for his controversial, subversive, violent, and in-your-face characters, is responsible for a surprisingly delicate poetry, too.

“Once In May”
Once in May I embraced a girl,
Both my ears were ablaze,
In December I split up with another,
My ears were frozen and grey.

Who was the girl? Whats the name of the other?
Where are December and May?
And how are me and my ears,
All thats left of those things today?

When he passed away, at the age of 56, he left behind him hundreds of poems and songs. Some were put to music and became great popular hits, real “Israeli Classics”.

Roy Horovitz- a true Levin’s fan, tells in this performance about the man, reads and sings a selection of his works.
Both a funny and moving show, mixing together Brigitte Bardot, the Chief Rabbi, hookers and birds, chansons and croissants

The performance is in Hebrew and Roy Horovitz is accompanied by the pianists Moshe Danino (who also composed some of the poems).
